G'Day from Australia

"G'day, G'day, and how you doin'!" This is one of the first songs that we heard when we arrived in Australia while we were visiting the animals at the Cavenshaw Wildlife Park. It's a catchy little song that I'm not sure any of us will get out our head soon. Secretly, Nick and I like to imagine that all Aussies listen to this song each morning when they get up.

Perth, Australia was amazing! A new continent for Nick and a new part of Australia for Tim. And our host and hostess, Brian and Tahlia, helped us fall in love with the land, the food and wine, and the people. Below is collection of some of the photos from our trip to Perth along with some of the very fond memories starting with a video.

One of our first trips out was to Cavenshaw Wildlife Park where Tahlia and Brian introduced us to many of the local Australian animals including kangaroos and wallabies plus wombats, koalas, and many species of birds and reptiles.

One of favorite things to do was to feed the kangaroos in the park. It was fun to see some of the mommies with their joeys and to see all of them hop. And the trip to visit kangaroos would not be complete without eating kangaroo jerkey on the way out of the park. Pet a kangaroo and then eat it.

And a trip to Perth is never complete without great meals, wine and conversation. Luckily we had lots of these while with Tahlia, Brian and all of their friends. A big shout-out to Gemma and Mick who joined us for many of those meals and helped us celebrate our time in Perth.

And of course Nick and I also made sure we did some athletic activities in Perth including 3 runs and a fun workout with Tahlia and Geoff at F45 where we got our butts kicked. Running Perth is fun given all of their beautiful rivers, parks, and the ocean close by.

And if Nick decides to move to Australia, he might actually fit in well given that when he tried Vegemite, he actually liked it. Vegemite is like peanut butter to Aussies but most Americans are not fond of it; as least not immediately. So, good on you, Nick!

We also had some fish and chips in Freemantle. Nothing says Australian like having fish and chips! And they do it well.

But the best part of Perth and Australia was spending time with Brian and Tahlia. They went all out to show us a great time and we are extremely grateful for their hospitality. We will miss them terribly but are sure that we will get back to Australia to visit them again soon.
