THE NATIONAL ORCHID GARDEN
4 June 2021 | After a 12km run along the newly opened greenway, we made our way over to the Botanic Gardens to head home. And on a whim, as we were walking through the gardens, we decided to stop into The National Orchid Garden. Fortunately, because it was the middle of the day (when Singaporeans are least likely to be outside), because it had just rained (which Singaporeans also do not like - it’s Ike snow in the USA), and because we are still on mini-lockdown, there were very, very few people in the Orchid Garden. So, we pretty much had it to ourselves which made this experience even more spectacular.
To top is off, in April, the Singapore Botanic Gardens opened a new section in the Orchid Gardens called the Sembcorp Cool House. Not only was it cool temperature-wise but the type and variety of orchids was also very cool. The new section of the garden practically doubled the size the Orchid Garden.
Below is just a sample of the orchids we saw yesterday. It’s impossible to describe the jaw-dropping beauty of the gardens and flowers. The colors and variety of flowers are stunning. I could have spent hours in the gardens and was so happy that we got to enjoy it in relative quiet. It’s definitely a must-visit for tourists and Singaporeans alike.
